We’re looking for Wild Hearts

Dear founder,

Congratulations on the bold decision to pursue a startup. It's no easy feat.

The reality is the best founders figure stuff out on their own. They're resourceful, non-consensus, learn-it-alls who care deeply about their customers. They don't need a program. They need community.

At Blackbird, we realise the most helpful thing we can do is surround you with like-minded peers, leverage our network to connect you with the best mentors in ANZ, and create spaces for you to make real friendships. People you can call on when you get stuck.

If you want to join this community, it doesn't matter if you have a website (or not), a prototype (or not), a co-founding team (or not). And yes, it's okay if you change your idea. Pivoting is part of the process. We just want to meet interesting people working on interesting ideas.

The only thing that matters is the speed and scale of your ambition.

We hope you consider being a part of our Giants community. We can't wait to meet you.

FAQ

What is our vision for Giants?

The very beginning of a startup is a magical time. It’s a time of possibilities, discovery and learning. But it can also be lonely, daunting and confusing - especially for first-time founders.

There are many brilliant programs in our startup ecosystem that help founders grow and scale, but very few opportunities for founders at the ideation stage; who haven’t built a team or crystallised their product vision.

Giants exists to support ambitious people with an idea forge new pathways into the ecosystem. Our hope is that Giants will help more founders in Australia and New Zealand turn their ideas into reality, whilst enabling leaders and existing founders be a part of that journey in a simple, meaningful way.

Do I have to pay for Giants?

No. Giants is free and we don’t ask for equity.

What is the time commitment?

We recommend dedicating 3 hours each week to engage with the Giants content and community. You should allow additional time to work on your startup idea.

How do I choose a mentor?

We have a directory of all mentor profiles and you can submit a booking request to a mentor based on their industry, expertise and interest to mentor Idea or Build stage founders.

How many mentoring sessions can I book?

We recommend booking at least one mentoring session a week. Beyond that, we adjust the upper limit based on mentor availabilities which change each cohort.

What is the difference between an Idea and Build stage founder?

Idea: You've got a rough idea and want to understand how to validate it. Your next steps are customer interviews and building your MVP.

Build: You’ve got an idea and are building your MVP or product. Your next steps are GTM, pricing and fundraising.

All Giants founders will get access to the same live content material, pre-recorded Knowledge Hub and in-person events. However, identifying as a Build or Idea stage founder will impact the mentors you are able to book mentoring sessions with.
