Description

We're creating a global group of scientists and engineers (and friends thereof) who are passionate about their work having an impact and curious about startups. We'd love for you to join us!

Come hear from David Bell and Jake Sganga, cofounders of Remedy Robotics (and Stanford alumni). Remedy Robotics is making remote surgery a reality for time-critical conditions---saving a billion lives.

To learn more about what Blackbird's about, check out our Foundry Manifesto. It details the beliefs that underpin our idea-stage deep and biotech founder program and our deep and biotech investing.

We're hosting similar events across the world, most recently in SF last November. We brought together almost 150 founders, engineers, product managers, etc. from academia, generational tech companies, and ambitious startups alike, all in one room.

Festivities kick-off at 5:30pm. Drinks and nibbles on us!

FAQ

Can I invite my friends?

Yes, tell all your most talented and ambitious friends. That said, due to limited capacity of the venue, registrations will be capped.

What industries or areas will you invest in?

We pride ourselves on not being rigid investors. The very definition of novel is "not like anything before". We get excited when something doesn't easily fit a category or seems strange. We are guided by our founders' ambition, not just a top down investment thesis.

We invest broadly from software to space and have invested repeatedly in deep tech areas. Our current portfolio spans enterprise and healthcare software, consumer, medical devices, autonomous robotics, AI infrastructure, clean energy systems and quantum technologies. We also update our investment thesis with every fund - read our current thesis here as well as previous ones.

At what stage do you invest in companies?

Nothing is too small or too early. We have invested as little as $20K in a pre-seed round and many of our relationships begin before companies have built a product. We often work with founders through their ideation phase before their company has been formed!

Nothing is too large or too late. We have invested >$100M in a single round and have begun new relationships with founders at all stages through to IPO. Our goals is to invest right at the beginning of a company's life, before there is product or revenue, earn a courtside seat to the best companies by building a great relationship with them, and then invest hundreds of millions of dollars over their lifetimes.
