Co-founder & CEO, Sunroom

Lucy Mort is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Sunroom. After studying design at UNSW, Lucy began her career as a graphic designer at a luxury retail brand in Sydney. In 2015, at the age of 24, Lucy moved to New York City in search of a new adventure and opportunities. She landed a role at Hinge, as their Junior Marketing Designer.Lucy went on to become the Director of Design at Hinge, building the design team, and leading Hinge through its 2016 redesign — ditching the swiping interface for the now infamous prompts and innovative liking/commenting UI. Lucy also led a major redesign in 2019 featuring Hinge’s “Designed to be deleted campaign”.In September 2019 Lucy left Hinge and began exploring new problems to solve. Lucy delved into new markets, conducted hundreds of interviews, ran experiments, and immersed herself deeper into the tech ecosystem. All of Lucy’s work during this time had a few things in common — it solved problems faced by women, and it was progressive in its sex positivity and body positivity. In 2020, Lucy joined On Deck for their fourth fellowship, and began working on the initial idea for Sunroom— a platform dedicated to historically stigmatized groups of content creators. Lucy met Michelle Battersby soon after, and Sunroom was incorporated.Since then, Lucy and her team have been building and growing Sunroom — the app where women & non-binary creators make money — generating millions in earnings for it’s creators. Earlier this year, Lucy and her team launched two new audience monetization tools, aimed at helping even more people on the internet to earn an income.
